Heroes and Saints sets ablaze the struggles endured by the farm worker community from the fictional town of McFarland, California. The fields are riddled with pesticides and toxic waste leading to a high incidence of cancer and birth defects. Heroes and Saints is a searing look at what a community must contend with to earn a meager living in a world where their lives are devalued and minimized. Through elements of surrealism, Moraga reminds us that we are responsible for one another and have no right to demand that others sacrifice for our own comfort. ¡El pueblo unido jamás será vencido!
